Jaguar Reveals Its Four-Cylinder F-Type
Jaguar has just announced a cheaper, more efficient version of its stunning F-type sports car. Coming with four-cylinders, the new F-Type joins the existing V8-engined coupé and convertible versions in its line-up, giving Joes more options than ever when it comes to Jags.
The new Jaguar F-Type, which will be offered in closed-roof and soft-top forms, packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium four-cylinder engine delivering 296bhp and 295 lb ft of torque. While that’s 39bhp down on the rear-wheel-drive F-Type V6, it is still capable of some mean numbers. 0-60mph clocks in at 5.4sec and its top speed is 155mph, just 6mph down on the V6.
The new Ingenium engine is the most powerful four-cylinder Jaguar have offered yet and as such gives the entry-level F-Type the highest output of any model in the line-up. Jaguar also say the new four-cylinder helps the fuel consumption saying it’s reduced by as much as 16% when compared with the V6.
The engine offers a weight reduction of 52kg too, resulting in some enhanced agility, and they also claim that by tweaking the chassis settings to suit the lighter weight, steering response is improved, as has body control and ride comfort.
All the 2018 F-types have redesigned bumpers, while the rear of the four-cylinder model features a single exhaust finisher to distinguish it from the V6 and V8 models. LED headlights are still optional, and it also comes with a Touch Pro infotainment system and new chrome and aluminium trim finishers.
With orders being taken in the spring, the 2018 Jaguar F-Type starts at £49,900 for the the four-cylinder with prices rising to £51,540 for the 3.0-litre supercharged petrol engine. Head over to the Jaguar Website for more specs and to find your nearest dealer.
