Wåven SS17 Menswear Collection
Scandinavian culture have infiltrated British society quite like nothing else in the past few years, with the fashion industry arguably seeing the influence more than any other. One label leading the way in this Scandi-cool takeover is Wåven, and the brand have just announced their SS17 menswear collection.
‘Fragmented Innocence’ is the title of the new Spring-Summer 2017 offering from Wåven, with the collection exploring ‘the elevation of simplicity through line, form and texture.’ The idea being that simple textures and fabrics can be brought to life and given power through good old fashion design.
Wåven is a Scandinavian inspired London-based contemporary label which is firmly focused on elevating the humble denim. Focusing on design-led aesthetics for both Joes and Janes, Wåven utilises two generations of denim manufacturing expertise to create a range of finely tuned denim with perfected fits and finishes, all the while retailing at affordable prices.
The Wåven SS17 menswear collection was inspired, believe it or not, by the artwork of Frank Auerbach, a British figurative painter who focuses on portraits and city scenes in and around Camden. Using his ‘juxtaposition of strong and assertive lines’, the collection focuses on enriching simple silhouettes with texture and detail.
The highlight of the collection is the Lief denim overcoat for £90. The traditional long-line mac comes with a contemporary look and has been dyed Forest Green for a luxe feel and finish. The overcoat features a classic collar, easy fastening and two front waist pockets for added practicality.
The Wåven SS17 Menswear Collection is available now over at the Wåven Website, as well as various stockists including the likes of ASOS and Zalando. All campaign imagery was shot by fashion photographer Jon Gorrigan, and styled by Victoria Sekrier.
