At a recent event at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ one of the most eagerly awaited hypercars has been revealed to the world. The not-so-snappily named, AM-RB 001 is the first tangible product of a collaboration between, World Formula 1 champions, Red Bull Racing and the historic British car maker.

The car combines the engineering genius of Adrian Newey and styling of Marek Reichman, the man responsible for Aston’s most recent masterpieces. Never before have two companies such as these joined forces to make a hypercar. Yes there have been cars developed with F1 technology but this technical partnership is a first.

Adrian Newey has been let off the leash to develop something truly ground breaking. He has been shackled for several years by the restrictive nature of Formula 1 regulations. This car benefits from all of his know-how and years of experience. You can see the race car similarities when looking through the deeply sculpted sides to reveal an F1-like suspension set-up. The car features F1-grade carbon fibre bodywork and proper full carbon brakes.

The AM-RB 001 will be powered by am all-new, high-revving naturally aspirated V12 engine with a hybrid element as well. The mid-engined, two-seater, lightweight car will have 1:1 power-to-weight ratio. So for every kilo, the car will pack 1 bhp. We will have to wait to find out how many horses that will actually be but we expect it to weigh around 1000kgs.

The car is bespoke car from the ground up. It shares nothing with the current range of Aston Martins and thanks to its race car inspired packaging will be unlike anything else to drive. Aston Martin say it will be usable though and could be driven to the Le Mans 24hrs, probably win it and then drive it home again.

Newly says the AB-RB 001 will be faster around a track than a current F1 car in race trim. That means it will be significantly faster than the current crop of hyper cars from McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche. All this on a road car!

Costing between 2 and 3 million pounds, the first cars will be delivered in 2018 but we’ll have to wait for a little longer to get exact details of what this epic car is capable of.
