Although perhaps used a little freely, not many would begrudge the Audi R8 as a motoring icon. Since we first clapped eyes on it in the Original Iron Man back in 2008, it has adorned more bedroom walls than Kelly Brook. It was stylish, it was pretty quick, and ultimately, it was different.

Audi R8 Video Review

The facelifted version is here, landing at the tail end of 2013, it seemed Audi felt the R8 was due a refresh, though to be honest, not a lot has changed. A testament to just how good the original is perhaps?

Visually it is pretty much as you were, including the interior which is, to be honest, a disappointment. It is now seriously lacking behind beautiful (and Audi) interiors such as the new A3, it’s a pity as to be honest it is looking a little tired and dated. Functional, but just missing something.

On the road and behind the scenes is where the major changes have occurred, with the introduction of a new double clutch gearbox to help eek our every ounce of power and growl from the V8 or V10 engines. It really does help the R8 become a viable option for the everyday sportscar.
