Audi look set to debut the next iteration of the Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept at CES in Vegas, having showcased the previous version at Frankfurt to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original model.
The Sport Quattro Laserlight would need to be a serious bit of tech to earn its place among the gadgets at the Consumer Electronics Show, but with the technology on board the Concept would appear to belong as much as anything from Apple or Sony.
The ‘Laserlight’ part comes from the vehicle possessing matrix LED headlights which feature laser technology and two slimline trapezoidal elements with the inner element producing the laser light used for high beam, and the outer element using the matrix LED’s for low beam. The tech doesn’t begin nor end with the lights however, as the Sport Quattro also has a 3D Nvidia powered display in the dash, contains both a 4.0 litre V8 and an electric motor kicking out a combined 700bhp for 0-62 in 3.7 secs and topping out at 189mph. It can also do 30 miles running on the battery alone, which is pretty impressive in itself!
Bodywork remains pretty much in-line with the previous concept with plasma red paint and an exterior look combining design DNA from the rear of the soon to be released Audi S1 and RS5. And although it has a little bit of an American feel about the whole thing, the aggressive stance just makes it work. The future of American Muscle Cars perhaps?
Its pretty, fast, and the dash display is in 3D. When can we test one out?!
