As if the recent launches of the McLaren P1 and the Lamborghini Veneno were not enough, the king of supercars has just crashed the party with the all new Ferrari LaFerrari. It has literally just had the covers pulled off in Geneva by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo to reveal the high anticipated ‘hypercar’, the perhaps oddly named Ferrari LaFerrari.
No that isn’t a typo, but it could actually be a translation issue, who knows! But that is what we are running with. Limited to a run of 499, the LaFerrari features a mid-engined 6.3 litre V12 which produces 790 BHP, but don’t get too disheartened, in the same manor as the McLaren P1, the LaFerrari also features an electric motor pushing out an additional 160 BHP for a total of 950 BHP and 663lb ft of torque. That’s more like it
You will get to 62mph in under 3 seconds, on to 124mph in less than 7 seconds and on to a top speed of 217mph. The chassis is made from T800 carbon, which sounds like something straight out of the Terminator, and that weight reduction helps the LaFerrari tip the scales at just 1255KG and helps towards those colossal speed orientated statistics.
There is no doubting the new Ferrari LaFerrari is a beautiful looking car, and in typical Ferrari fashion. The sweeping lines that seem to continue throughout it’s body even though there are more air intakes and vents than you can shake a stick at. Carbon Fibre is at the heart of it, from the general construction all the way through to pretty much the single material on the inside.
