With the EU enforcing new regulation on emissions from 2020, manufacturers are having to think smart with regard to their ranges, as the average CO2 emissions across any given product-list will not be able to exceed 95g/km.
This sees the necessity for Jaguar to offer their client an accessible vehicle to provide an entry level vehicle to compete with the BMW 1 or 3 series or the Audi A3 or A5, and a model which will also bring down the average emissions of the range.
Mick Mohen, chief of engineering at Jaguar has hinted that the company is working on the product with the way forward seeming to be through the weight reduction which would result from aluminium body construction.
