These images showcase Lamborghini’s plans for a Gallardo replacement coded the LP724, and alleged to be called the Lamborghini Cabrera, which is due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Lamborghini Cabrera: LP724

With design cues taken from the Lamborghini Veneno, the LP724 Cabrera looks stunning with space age angular bodywork made of carbon fibre and aluminium, and all housing a 5.2 litre V10 engine. The V10 will be capable of producing just shy of 600 bhp, with the choice of a 6 speed manual, or 7 speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. The Cabrera will come in a four wheel drive configuration as standard, with some special editions planned to incorporate a rear wheel drive option.

The Cabrera will likely share a few tweaks with its cousin within the VW Group, the second gen Audi R8 which is due in 2015. So we will look forward to seeing how the vehicles compare in both looks and performance. The Cabrera will go on sale in 2014, and will launch another 5 models to coincide with its 50th anniversary
