Is Lamborghini’s Terzo Millennio the Sports Car of the Future?
With electric cars and hybrids becoming ever more popular, you’d be forgiving if you felt a little underwhelmed with the state of modern motoring. Step forward Lamborghini, who seem to have thrown the recent rule book out of the window with the completely bonkers Terzo Millennio hypercar concept.
Meaning ‘third millennium’ in Italian, the Terzo Millennio is the result of a collaboration which started last year between Lamborghini and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The aim; to develop future-focused concept cars.
The concept addresses four technological goals: Energy, Innovation in Materials, Powertrain & Vehicle Architecture, and Sound & Emotion. As such, the sports car of the future uses an electric power train instead of gasoline. And to achieve the maximum performance, the Terzo utilises specially designed supercapacitors rather than batteries.
This energy efficiency also feeds into Lambo’s use of innovative materials. The Italian icon aims to reduce weight and to increase the availability of electric energy by using storing composites. The whole of the Terzo’s carbon fibre structure will also monitor its own health through the same technology.
But most importantly, as is the case with basically all Lamborghinis, the Terzo Millennio is undeniably dramatic. The concept is even more angular than we’re used to from Lambo, with orange glowing wheels arches to die for. We absolutely love it and pray to God thank Lamborghini decide to actually make the thing.
But as of yet, there aren’t any plans to make the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, so you’ll have to make do with heading over to the Lamborghini Website to see and read more about the hypercar concept.
