Well you should already know by now that McLaren has announced it’s next generation supercar, the MP4-12C, well they have now gone one better by announcing a retractable hard-top version in the Spider.
Although details are scarce it looks like the convertible will show off a carbon fibre hood that folds up and away behind behind the seats. Expect the same 600bhp 3.8 twin-turbo V8, pushing this baby to 60mph in 3.5 seconds and on to around the 200mph mark.
With a price tag of around £175,000 it will be pitched head to head with the likes of the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider and the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.
It will be powered by the same – roof-up, of course. But the model won’t come cheap – buyers will have to pay a significant premium over the £150,000 coupé version, with prices likely to start at around £175,000.
