New Audi RS6 Avant 2013

In the uber-fast world of super-saloons, less is rarely more. This has been evident at Audi for the last two iterations of its RS6. Usually the boys and girls at Audi look at the best efforts of BMW and Mercedes and just throw more power at their car. Not this time though. Gone is the rampaging V10 engine and in its place is a BiTurbo V8 with fewer cc’s and less bhp.
It’s all sounding a bit underwhelming so far but not to worry, this Audi RS6 Avant 2013 has a few aces up its sleeve. They’ve shaved 100kg from the weight and added around 36lbft to the torque figure. All of these changes mean that the Avant version (read estate) will get to 62mph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds (0.7 faster than the old car). If you opt for the Dynamic Plus option then it will go onto 190mph. Not a bad way to get the shopping home.
In usual Audi RS-style, they have added some aggression to the outside in the form of blistered arches, a framed Quattro logo in the front grill and 20inch forged alloy wheels all-round. Inside you’ll find lots of leather & carbon fibre up front and in the back you’ll be able to fit 1680 litres of cargo.
Further upgrades have been made to the brakes and exhaust. The brakes are petal-shaped to save weight and are fitted with 6-pot callipers to help haul the 1900kg car down from its 190mph top speed. The exhaust is active so you can choose how much you want to annoy your neighbours in the morning at the touch of a button. The New Audi RS6 Avant 2013 will be on sale from next summer at around £77,000.
We love a ridiculously fast Estate but we want to know what you think of the new Audi RS6 Avant.
