The BMW X3 helped define the mid-sized 4×4 market we so fondly know as SUV, and it was over 10 years ago they first hit UK roads. We now have full production details of the all new BMW X3, and it will no doubt continue to excel.
The now third generation will hit UK roads in 2014 with an altogether more powerful look that previous incarnations. Everything just seems that little big bigger, that little bit chunkier. On launch a massive 7 powertrain options will be available, 4 diesel and 3 petrol, ranging from 150 BHP to the all new BMW X3 xDrive35i pushing out 313 BHP. The flagship diesel will no doubt the new entry X3 xDrive20d, which sees the newly developed 2L Turbo Diesel.
Of course BMW EfficientDynamics will be available, giving you the like of Start / Stop and a version of KERS, with BMW ConnectedDrive offering full driver assistance with Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure and High Beam Assist. After testing driving the all new X5 last year, it seems the X3, as expected, is heading in exactly the same direction. And we for one and very pleased that it is.
