In a Ferrari based day we have just had details released of the Ferrari 458 Italia, the replacement for the flagship Ferrari F430. Although you won’t (shouldn’t) see this baby until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September official details were released this morning.
And you know what? Expect an ECO CAR! Ok, well not quite, but it will the most economical (and fastest) road car Ferrari have ever produced. A new direct-injected 4.5-liter V8 will provide 562 horses and 398 lb-ft of torque. She won’t redline up untill 9,000 rpm but 80% of the torque will be available at a lowly 3,250 rpm to help with mpg, not the mph! This gives us a combined 17.1 mpg, which lets be honest is a decent step in the right direction.
Add to that improved aerodynamics, that famous seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and aluminum structure and this red beast will hit 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, and as the fastest production Ferrari she will break the 200 mph barrier at 202…
Roll on September!
