The Porsche 911 is an icon, a status symbol. A car and a car design that will forever be in peoples minds and go down in history as one of the all time classics. And to celebrate Porsche 911’s 50th Anniversary, they have launched a special edition.
The original car was launched in 1963, although under the name type 901, and the 911 50 anniversary is based on the current 911 Carrera S.
The Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition features a rear-mounted, 400 hp flat-six engine but with a wider, somehow more aggressive body. The new Porsche 911 50 Years Edition sprints to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds will top out at 186 mph.
Two special edition colour options are available, a dark Graphite Grey and a lighter Geyser Grey metallic, as well as the classic black. You will also notice a number of ‘911 50’ badges so that you know this car is special.
To match the year of birth, the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition will be limited to 1,963 examples and can be snapped up for £92,257 from September 2013. And if that seems steep, don’t forget you get a complimentary day at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone, read the link to find out more about it from our visit last year.
