Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Porsche have just announced the addition of a 7th model to the Cayenne range in the form of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.
The new model, described as the ‘ultimate Cayenne’ by Porsche, will slot in above the current Cayenne Turbo in terms of both price and performance. Available in the UK from January 2013 with prices starting at £107,460, the Turbo S will benefit from a power increase of almost ten percent – the Turbo S’s 4.8 litre twin turbo now generating just under 550bhp compared to the Turbo’s 500bhp. Meanwhile the torque output jumps by 37lb ft to 553lb ft. All this power is generated from a slightly modified version of the unit currently installed in the Panamera Turbo S.
Just as impressively, Porsche have managed to keep both the combined cycle fuel consumption and average CO2 emission static, remaining at 24.6mpg and 270g/km respectively.
Cosmetically, Porsche have shied away from any aggressive styling additions with just a few subtle changes hinting at the model’s capabilities. These include a black high gloss treatment for both the headlamp housings and wing mirrors and 21-inch bespoke alloys to keep the whole thing on the road. The interior can be decked out in two new leather upholstery packages designed specifically by Porsche for the Turbo S.
There’s always the question of how much power is too much power? A question Porsche have delightfully decided to ignore with their new model.
What do you think? Is the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S worth the extra dollar?
