Anything cool you see in the world, there is a fair chance you will see Red Bull attached to it somehow. If it isn’t event ownership or sponsorship, it will be winning the damn thing! Well they are at it again, as Red Bull Sponsored teams take the Bike and Truck wins at Dakar 2013.
The Dakar is one of the most fearsome and gruelling motorsport events of all time, with the first one back in 1978. 2013 saw the Rally head back to South America for buggy, bike, quad and lorry to take on the crazy 8,500 kilometres of harsh terrain.
Cyril Despres battled his way to a win on two wheels on his KTM machine. Successfully defending his title from last year. Whilst Team Kamaz’s Eduard Nikolaev managed to grab the truck title by more than 37 minutes, remarkably without winning a single stage.
The flagship Qatar Red Bull Rally Team, had a bad time of it unfortunately and bowed out of the competition early, World Rally Legend Carlos Sainz dropping out on day 6. Though South Africa’s Giniel de Villiers did manage a second in the buggy discipline behind defending champion Stephane Peterhansel in his Toyota Hilux.
Enough about words, Dakar is all about breathtaking images, so check them out below, watch the video or head on over to the Red Bull Dakar Mini Site for even more!
