With the Geneva Motor Show just around the corner all kinds of new cars and concepts are finding their way into our inbox. We don’t want to bore you with all, but there are a few new cool and quirkies you might like! Here we have the Smart Forspeed Concept, we are assured this is full size, although it looks like a toy!
The Smart Forspeed EV will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show kicking off next week, bringing us drop top, affordable fun with a ‘fast’ tag. OK not really fast, the Forspeed only hits 75mph, and to get to 37mph will take you about the same time as your Nan on her scooter, 5.5 seconds. Power comes from a 30kW electric motor with a ‘turbo’ 5kW boost via switch. No AAA batteries here, with a 16.5kWh lithium-ion quick charge battery offering you a maximum of 84 miles of range. Quick charge however from a 220V port can charge the Forspeed to 80% in less than an hour which is pretty impressive. Just enough time to get your Starbucks then!
Now with it’s drop top, you probably won’t want one of these in England, yes it has a cover but it limits to only the driver with no passenger allowed. You also get a bundled smatphone (no word on which one!) which through the Smart Drive app provides navigation and entertainment.
More details will no doubt fall out at Geneva, but we thought you might want a quick sneak peak!
