A Tea Brewing Pub Has Just Opened in London
If there’s two things us Brits love, it’s our pubs and our tea. Which is why it’s almost criminal we’ve never thought to merge the two together. That is until now! Say hello to Brew, the Tea Pub, the world’s first tea brewing boozer!
Brew, the Tea Pub has just opened in Tooting, London and they’re inviting you to join them in the warmth and welcome of a traditional English pub, with pots of tea instead of pints of beer. It’s ran by Albion Tea, who set up a crowd-funding campaign back in June 2015 where more than 300 people raised over £200,000 to make the pub happen.
Being a tea pub, Brew is all about the quality of the leaf. As well as having a standard brew aptly named English Breakfast Superior, you’ll find more exotic staples like their Real Bergamot Earl Grey, Fresh Masala Chai and Morrocan Gunpowder Mint.
But as this is a pub, naturally they’ll be alcohol too. Tea doesn’t just brew, it infuses, into spirits. Which is why Brew feature alcoholic tea cocktails, like the Earl Grey & Tonic or English Breakfast Martini. Food is also served too with reimaginings of British classics, such as the marmalade glazed sausage rolls and the smashed peas with sourdough. As it’s essentially a glorified tea room, you can expect some decent slices of cake too.
Brew, the Tea Pub can be found at 114 Tooting High Street, SW17 0RR. It’s open Wednesdays – Sundays and the pub does its bit for the community too by employing former inmates from London’s prisons. Head over to the Brew, the Tea Pub Website.
