We love ourselves a good wartime flick, and one that’s sure to be smash this year is Allied; a Nazi-espionage-romantic-drama directed by Hollywood veteran Robert Zemeckis. And just to make things even more interesting, Allied stars Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard…

If you tend to ignore the showbiz news, you’d be forgiven. But you’d have to have been living under a rock to not know Brangelina recently broke up. And the rumours that followed suggested he’d been seeing none other than his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard.

While she vehemently denies the rumour, unfortunately the story will probably overshadow Allied’s journey to the screen. But after seeing the first full length trailer, we think Allied probably deserves more hype for the film itself!

The film sees Pitt play war-time Canadian intelligence officer, Max Vatan, who meets French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) in 1942 while on a deadly mission in North Africa behind enemy lines. Naturally, the pair fall madly in love.

Once the duo are reunited in London, their relationship is put through its paces as Max is interrogated by his superiors who are convinced that Marianne is actually a Nazi spy. If proven correct, the Canadian officials order Max to kill his spouse before she gets him.

While we normally don’t like them to, the trailer does give away a fair bit of the plot to Allied. But that also means we get a good feel for the film which appears to be three movies in one; a romance with two of Hollywood’s darlings, an action-packed war-time blockbuster, as well as an intimate spy thriller.

Directed by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis, Allied also stars Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Goode, Raffey Cassidy, Jared Harris and Charlotte Hope, with the film set to hit cinemas on 25th November 2016. Check out the full trailer below.
