Alternative Valentine’s Day Ideas in London 2018

It’s Valentine’s Day next week, and with the new that Greggs is opening up some of its bakeries for a four-course ‘fine dining’ meal to celebrate, we thought we’d throw in a few more alternative ideas that are as un-clichéd as possible.

While the day does bring too many trips to the local Italian, it does also serve up a plethora of opportunities to do something unique with your partner, with London naturally the hub for the more interesting activities. So with that in mind, here’s some ideas for an alternative Valentine’s Day in London 2018.

Bleeding Heart Ball

If you’re looking to party your way through the weird and the wonderful of the London underground, the Vaults Theatre is Waterloo is always a good place to start. And this weekend their promising ‘one super giant of a party full of passion, enchantment and risk.’ It’s called the Bleeding Heart Ball and it’s being thrown by Gypsy Disco & Shotgun Carousel, two of London’s leading immersive event extraordinaires. The Anti-Valentine’s event will feature a night of devilry and debauchery with performances, theatrics, a confession booth, sex tarot cards and London’s finest nude life drawing models. This one’s not for the faint hearted!


Prince of Peckham x Morley’s Chicken Shop

The Royal Observatory in Greenwich is giving you the chance to be all starry-eyed with your partner this V Day with its now annual ‘Evening with the Stars.’ There’ll be a romantically themed planetarium show, followed by a chance to look at the Moon through the Great Equatorial Telescope, as well as some time on the Meridian Line with an amazing view and a glass of champers.


Fall in Love with a Stranger

For all your singletons out there who like the idea of finding love, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen will be hosting a sort-of-speed dating event with a difference on Wednesday. A lady called Mandy Len Catron wrote an essay a couple of years back, arguing that you could find love with someone if you asked each other 36 very special questions. Calling bullshit? Answer the questions online and head down to Hoxton to see if you’ve got a match!


Sex in the City Run

If you’re a fitness freak and can’t give up even one night a year of workout, boy do we have the perfect event for you! Curated by Secret London Runs, the Sex in the City tour meanders through London’s once-raunchy streets.
