Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger

Here at Average Joes, it’s law to love James Bond and everything associated with 007. So imagine our excitement when we received news that to mark the 50th anniversary of Goldfinger – the first Bond film to feature the iconic British masterpiece – Aston Martin are releasing a unique DB5 to go under auction for charity.

James Bond creators EON Productions have commissioned a one-off gold-plated third scale replica of James Bond’s iconic DB5. Prop-makers Propshop have created the gold model DB5 with 24-carat gold plated detailing, complete with radio controlled machine guns, bullet proof shield and revolving number plate. The replica DB5 has also been signed off by Sir Ken Adam – the legendary Bond production designer. Adam was the designer for all the Q-Branch modifications that were made to the Aston Martin in Goldfinger. Needless to say the geek in us couldn’t be more excited.

Global auctioneers Christie’s will offer the car in a special online auction in a benefit for the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). It’s expected to sell for between £40,000-£60,000 and will be available for bidding from 8th September until 17th September – the official date for the 50th anniversary of Goldfinger.

If that’s not enough, thrown into the auction mix is a unique Goldfinger Seamaster Aqua Terra wristwatch created by Omega. The one-off wristwatch is made in 18k yellow gold and is expected to reach between £8,000-£12,000. If Omega’s Seamaster or the 1:3 scale gold car is out of your price range, however, there’s also a first edition Goldfinger by Ian Fleming, an original British cinema poster for Goldfinger and a special golden edition of Taschen’s The James Bond Archives amongst other beauties to be sold at the auction.
