Whisper it quietly but Christmas is now only weeks away. Which means we can officially say winter is coming. But rather than get down about the drop in temperatures, why not embrace the multitude of awesome pop-ups the capital throws up this time of year? With so much going on, it can be hard to keep up. So to help you along the way, here’s some of the best winter pop-ups in London for 2017!
The Moroccan Medina
Location: Queen of Hoxton, 1 Curtain Road, EC2A 3JX.

East London pub, Queen of Hoxton always puts on a show during the Christmas period. And this year they’re taking things to the far-flung desert realms and romantic splendour of Marrakesh. Their rooftop garden will be turned into a Riad, where you’ll find a bar inspired colours, sights and scents of Moroccan Souks. The place will naturally be decked out in a treasure trove of brightly coloured Baboushe slippers, ceramic tiles, twinkling lanterns, cushions and drapes, and there’ll be a secret snug hidden inside a giant Moroccan lamp just for good measure. As well as Spiced Hot Buttered Rum or Shimmering Gold Pomegranate Bellini, the Moroccan Medina will also feature Moroccan-inspired delights from the kitchen such as Halloumi Fries, Lamb and Apricot Tagine or a Rainbow Vegan Mezze Board.
Rekorderlig Cider Lodge

Rekorderlig’s effortlessly stylish Cider Lodge returns to the Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival this week for seasonal fun and festivities, allowing Joes and Janes to immerse themselves in Scandinavian style, culture, food and drink. You’ve probably past the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge on your Southbank travels at one point or another but for the uninitiated, the Cider Lodge is a two-floor structure that resembles a quintessential Scandinavian house. Inside you can enjoy winter drinks and a cider or two, while outside you’ll get the chance to sample some delicious Scandinavian street food.
Sliders Curling Club

Bowling’s weird winter cousin will once again be the focus of festivities at Roof East this season with the return of Sliders Curling Club, featuring six neon lit, freshly marked curling lanes, alongside a line-up of DJs and themed cocktails. As well as having drinks served to you at your lane, there’ll also be an array of street food to keep you suitably refreshed. This year, Roof East are also offering you the chance to relax in your very own snow globe. It’s not just a visual feast igloo either – Jimmy’s Lodge will be delivering an array of sharing boards directly to each dining dome.
Finnish Rooftop Sauna

If you’re looking to escape the Christmas rush or simply need to give your body a day off, then the Queen Elizabeth Roof Terrace at the Southbank Centre is the perfect place to unwind this winter. And that’s because they’re adding some Finnish saunas to their rooftop line-up. Part of the Southbank’s Nordic Matters season, you cam warm up and unwind in a one-of-a-kind Finnish sauna experience in the heart of London. Reaching 90 degrees celsius inside, you can then cool down in the open air (or with cold water buckets if you’re feeling brave), all while enjoying exclusive views over the River Thames. The Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden Bar is also open to serve you Prosecco, warming winter drinks and snacks.
Vauxhall Winter Village

The Vauxhall Winter Village is back by popular demand this month for a 6-week run until Christmas. Opening Thursday 16th November, the free to enter seasonal experience will feature après-ski style food, drink and entertainment. As well as an eclectic mix of winter comforts such as signature hot mulled beverages, roasted chestnuts, cosy blankets and heated seating booths, there’ll also be a cable car photo booth and heated Alpine Cabin booths available to hire, each of which are designed with a ski resort theme, such as St. Moritz, Klosters, Aspen, and Davos. Retro ski wear will also be available if you want to get into the spirit of things!
Christmess at the Imaginarium

Part feast, part immersive theatre experience, Christmess is all about celebrating colourful characters, counterculture and debauched dinner parties. Jimmy Garcia’s Lodge on the River

Fresh from his BBQ Club in the summer, London pop-up king, Jimmy Garcia is back for the cooler months with the opening of his Lodge On The River. Described as “a bit of the Alps in London”, Jimmy and his team will be creating the ultimate cosy escape from the winter cold. As always, there are various parts to the pop-up with the set-menu The Refuge Restaurant overlooking the Thames on the Southbank, The Hot Cocktail Bar and Street Food for passers-by, and also the option of an evening of private dining with close friends in our Private Igloos! Available for the evening for groups of up to 10 people, these heated domes will offer a unique way to experience dining on the Southbank with stunning views of the river, and an equally stunning menu.
PISTE Winter Bar

If you’re can’t afford a trip to Verbier or Val-d’Isère this winter, get some après-ski in the heart of London with the return of the uber-cosy PISTE pop-up winter bar in Archer Street. The banquette style booths and alcoves set alongside the reclaimed rafter boards give the venue its rustic-chic feel. South Pole Saloon

Brixton Rooftop is always a hit when Yuletide rolls around, and 2017 will be no different with the return of the South Pole Saloon. Having taken a year out in 2016, the purpose-built immersive drinking hole is back this winter, offering a fully heated, festive-themed pop-up space with all the Christmas booze and street food you could want. As well as Christmas cocktails, the South Pole Saloon will also provide entertainment with DJs, burlesque acts and various other artists performing across the winter stay.
