Child 44 Trailer
The first trailer for Tom Hardy’s Cold War thriller Child 44 has arrived online, and going by Hardy’s recent acting choices, it’s as dark and intense as you’d expect.
Based on Tom Rob Smith’s novel, the Child 44 sees Hardy playing Leo Demidov, a Russian secret police agent who investigates a series of cases involving the disappearance of children. Demidov teams up with a General Timur Nesterov (played by Gary Oldman) when he’s exiled from Moscow with his wife (played by his The Drop love interest Noomi Rapace). The cast list makes for great reading with Vincent Cassel, Paddy Considine, Jason Clarke and Joel Kinnaman also donning their best Soviet voices.
Going by the trailer and cast list, we’re pretty certain Child 44 is going to be a film packed full of cracking performances. The bleak material matter and more-than-tricky accents gives everyone plenty to work with. Even if this wasn’t on your 2015 film list, it should be now.
We were big fans of Tom Hardy and his latest escapees. Particularly in his recent films such as Locke and The Drop, so we’ll definitely be checking this out to see if Hardy can carry on his assent to one of the best character actors of his generation.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Child 44 opens in the UK on 17 April this year. Check out the trailer and let us know your thoughts.
