Christmas Party Ideas in London
Last updated on November 15th, 2015 at 12:07 pm
With Christmas approaching ever quicker, end of year parties are top of the agenda for most work places. But with some dos being booked as early as the Summer, and the plethora of choice on offer in our fine capital, finding a Christmas party venue in London can be harder than you think.
Which is where we come in! Whether its friends or work colleagues, large or small groups, we’re here to give you some ideas and inspirations on what do for your Christmas Party this year in London!
Skate at Somerset House Ice Rink
A great way to maybe start your evening, skating at Somerset House is a London Christmas staple. Set in the stunning Somerset House courtyard, this ice rink is the most popular in the capital. Enjoy exclusive clubs nights in the evening or go in the afternoon and watch the sunset with champagne and smoked salmon blinis. Tickets range between £10-40 depending on what day/time you go and whether you fancy some truffles to go along with your skate. Just maybe get your fill of champagne after you’ve been on the ice!
Bounce Table Tennis Bar
Bounce, dubbed ‘The Home of Ping Pong’, is exactly what we like in a night-out haunt – different, high energy, lots of fun, and great booze! Taking the humble ping pong table from the back corner of a bar to become the main focus of the venue, Bounce offers a full hospitality experience that will rival anywhere in the big city. It’s not the cheapest place with tables costing £28 at peak but if you’re with a smaller group, it’s well worth the money. There’s venues in Farringdon and Shoreditch but this place gets busy so you’ll need to get booking quickly!
Neon at Billingsgate Market
If you’re looking for something a little grander, wilder with no real planning involved, then the Neon party beneath the Billingsgate Market vaults might be right up your street. For one night only on Friday 18th December, this hidden venue which dates back hundreds of years will be opening its doors for a spectacular Christmas party night full of vintage neon. Guests will get a meal, unlimited booze and all the entertainment you could wish for with magicians, DJs and the mother of light shows. Suitable for firms around Canary Wharf, Neon is by no means cheap costing £120 per person. But it’s hassle free, great food and will be one of the best Christmas parties thrown in London this Winter.
Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes
Bowling is virtually always considered when Christmas parties are being brainstormed. But if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it in style at the Bloomsbury Lanes. Since opening in 2005, the venue has led the way for activity led bars in London with pristine bowling alleys, good food and live music. There’s also table tennis tables, London’s only virtual cricket net and private karaoke rooms for when throwing balls just won’t cut it – so you’ve only really got yourself to blame if you get bored here! At peak, Bloomsbury will set you back £50 per lane.
Experimental Cocktail Club
If great cocktails are the focus of your party, then do it properly in Chinatown at the Experimental Cocktail Club. It’s not the easiest thing to find and you’ll almost certainly walk past the entrance four or five times before realising it is indeed one, but this three-floor haunt is perfect for groups in the dozen looking for something a little classier. The drinks aren’t Breaking Bad experimental but they are some of the best in London. This place oozes sophistication so probably isn’t the best idea if you’re just in the business of getting shitfaced on Fosters and Breezers!
Riley’s Sports Bar Haymarket
For something on the cheaper side, Riley’s sports bar in the Haymarket is perfect for those who need something central. It is a sports bar so there’ll be foosball and UV table tennis tables dotted around but there’s plenty on offer even if you’re not into the activities. Party packages offer finger food buffets and prosecco receptions, as well as three-course dinners which start at a very reasonable £18 per person. There’ll also be resident DJs playing old-school classics well into the night when things get a bit debauched.
If you’re throwing a large party for the office this Christmas, we hope you’ve already got your venue sorted! But if you haven’t, take a look at the Troxy which is conveniently located between Canary Wharf and the City. One of London’s most versatile venues, the Troxy can hold anything from 500 up to 3000 guests. The fully restored Grade II listed art deco building boasts hi-spec sound and lighting systems as well as flexible catering options to suit whatever you’re looking for!
