Independence Day 2

According to reports around the blogosphere just before Christmas, a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster smash, Independence Day, has been given the go-ahead by Fox. Deadline report that the company have finally seen sense and Independence Day 2 will be coming to our screens by 2016 – 20 years after the masterpiece original.

Rumours have been flying around for some time about two sequels but it appears only one is in the pipeline. It seems almost certain that Roland Emmerich would take the director role given his previous vocal support for a sequel.

Unfortunately Will Smith has never been a fan of the idea so will take some serious convincing but Jeff Goldblum has always been positive about a second coming as has the greatest epilogue deliverer on earth, Bill Pullman.

It’s believed production will begin as soon as May 2015 will a date set for UK and US release on 26th June 2016. Although, a 4th of July date may well make more sense. They may only be rumours, but they seem too specific to not hold any weight. GET IN!
