Junkyard Golf Club London
East London has acquired a habit of turning seemingly time-honoured entertainment into the coolest hangouts the city has to offer, and the latest fad to sweep the capital in that vein is the influx of crazy golf joints. We headed to one of the most talked about in Brick Lane’s Junkyard Golf Club to see what all the fuss was about and unsurprisingly loved what we saw!
Junkyard Golf Club originated in Manchester and following an overwhelmingly successful stint, they’re bringing their 9-hole courses to the Old Truman’s Brewery in Shoreditch – what better place for it!?
There’s three courses to choose from, all of varying degree of difficulty, with obstacles like speeds boats, Wendy houses, treadmills and even cows to navigate. There’s ‘FRANK’ (Putt Up Or Shut Up), ‘PEDRO’ (Polluted Paradise), or HELGA (In Da Club). We’d recommend HELGA but you won’t have a bad time on any of them!
While the golf is obvious the focus, and great fun, Junkyard is also a great place to grab after work drinks and a bite to eat. The space has fours bars, so you can take your pick from King of the Swingers, Tony’s Toxic Tiki Bar, The Bunker, or Dirk’s Disco Den. As well as cider, wine and beers provided by Czech kings Kozel, there’s a load of golf themed cocktails served at each, such as the Golf Lundgren and Who’s Your Caddy.
Food is also sorted with Bart’s Dog Kart, serving some top notch loaded hot dogs and loaded nachos, as well as Big Grillie Style, an absolute haven for anyone who likes their meals with cheese and lots of it!
Junkyard Golf Club London is open daily between 11am and 11pm at the Old Truman Brewery on Dray Walk (E1 6QL) until the 31st August. We’d recommend you book your course in advance but Junkyard do hold back 20% of tickets for walk-ins. Prices are around £9.50 per player. Head over to the Junkyard Website for booking details.
