Jura is an incredibly well known whisky with an incredibly good reputation. Never mass produced and always feeling that little bit special, their Origin, Superstition, Prophecy and Diurach’s Own give nearly all taste palettes something to feast on. There is now another to add to the list and this one is a little bit special. Jura 1984 Vintage Whisky.
Many moons ago, well not that many, Jura decided to cask a fairly small amount of single malt whisky that they though could be something special given the time. 30 years seemed like a rather beautiful number and the time was right to welcome Jura 1984 Vintage to the whisky loving world. This new and very limited edition malt is casked in American White Oak, Amoroso and Apostoles Oloroso sherry barrells to give a smell to die for and hints of ripe pineapple bitter chocolate and morello cherries to taste.
The isle of Jura has just one road, one pub and of course on distillery, and George Orwell actually penned his book Nineteen Eighty-Four whilst starting on the island.
Willie Cochrane, Jura Distillery Manager: “Every good malt whisky has a story to tell and Jura’s tale is particularly unique. We’re delighted to add another exciting chapter with the release of this extraordinary limited edition vintage. Jura 1984 Vintage is an uncompromising addition to our range in homage to the island’s most distinguished guest. 1984 is certainly a year to remember.”
Jura 1984 Vintage Whisky is available now, and there are just 1984 bottles and each one retails for £750 a piece.
