The Krays Film: Legend
The first image of Tom Hardy as the Krays has been released for the forthcoming biopic of the notorious East-End criminals, named Legend.
As you have probably worked out by now, Hardy will be working double time and will be playing both twins, Reggie and Ronnie, pictured left and right respectively.
And very dapper he looks too. Of course, behind that sharp suit lurks a physically intimidating specimen who shouldn’t be messed with. A role Hardy is no stranger to with a successful turn at Charles Bronson under his belt.
On playing the two twins, Hardy said, “It’s another experiment and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, I just want to have some fun and see what’s out there and explore with the work.”
The film will follow the rise and fall of the brothers in the 1950s and 1960s and is expected to deal with marginally-older Reggie’s attempts to curb Ronnie’s psychotic menacing in check.
Legend is based on John Pearson’s book The Profession of Violence, and is penned by Brian Helgeland who won an Oscar for writing LA Confidential. All the ingredients are there for a potential cracker and Tom Hardy plays menace and intimidation better than most on screen.
Co-starring Christopher Eccleston, David Thewlis and Sucker Punch beauty Emily Browning, Legend is expected to be released in the UK in 2015.
