LEGO Team Up with Nintendo for Range of Super Mario Sets
If you revel in nostalgia just as much as us here at Average Joes HQ, prepare to have your inner child released: LEGO and Nintendo have announced that Super Mario will soon make the leap from screen to the real world with brand new LEGO building sets based on the biggest selling video game franchise of all time.
Yes, the new LEGO Super Mario building sets are due to arrive later this summer and will be based around an interactive Mario figure that collects coins in real-life levels built using Lego bricks. Adults (and kids, we guess) will be able to create their own levels, complete with Goombas, pipes, and Piranha Plants, and use Lego Mario to complete them.
The first set to be released will be the 231-piece LEGO Super Mario Adventures Starter Course, which features a LEGO Mario figure that gives instant responses via LCD screens and a speaker that plays iconic sounds and music from the video game. Players then earn virtual coins moving LEGO Mario from the Start Pipe to the Goal Pole via the likes of cloud platforms, the ‘?’ Block, and battles with the Goomba and Bowser Jr.
Soon after, you’ll be able to get hold of the other LEGO Mario sets, including a Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set, which is the largest of the three and lets builders face off against the titular villain.
The LEGO Super Mario Adventures Starter Course will be arriving on 1 August 2020 and you can pre-order your set for £49.99 over at the LEGO Website.
Earlier this year LEGO celebrated the 110th anniversary of Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium with its own 3,898-piece model, featuring everything from the Munich Clock to a statue of Sir Alex Ferguson.
