Based on Jo Nesbø’s book of the same name, the first trailer for The Snowman has just been released. The film sees Michael Fassbender take the lead as a detective investigating the murder of a group of women who disappear after the first snowfall of winter. From the trailer alone, I think it’s safe to assume The Snowman is taking the word ‘chilling’ to a whole new level!

Michael Fassbender Hunts a Serial Killer in 'The Snowman' Trailer

If the name Jo Nesbø rings a bell, it’s probably because the Norwegian crime writer has gained quite a reputation recently in Hollywood with a whole host of his works set for adaptation on the big screen. Having already had one of his novels made for 2011’s Headhunters, The Snowman is without doubt his biggest release to date.

The film follows elite crime squad detective Harry Hole (Fassbender) who investigates the disappearance of a victim. Following a host of other mysterious disappearances, Hole quickly realises he’s got an elusive serial killer on his hands, who goes by the name of the ‘Snowman Killer’.

With the help of a brilliant recruit (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’s Rebecca Ferguson), Hole is tasked with connecting the dots to decades-old cold cases in hopes of outwitting this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.

From the trailer alone, The Snowman really does look like it could be the thriller you can’t miss this year. The Nordic Noir genre has been a big hit on the small screen with the likes of The Bridge and The Killing, but there’s not really been a big screen hit since Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We think The Snowman could fill that gap!

Produced by Nesbø himself along with none other than Martin Scorsese, The Snowman is directed by Tomas Alfredson and is set for release 13th October 2017. Check out the trailer below.
