In a band, but not sure where your big break is going to come from? Well brand new UK Festival Play Fest are giving un-signed talent the chance to bag a festival slot at this Summers Play Fest Festival.

Play Fest, to be held for the first time in May, wants bands from across the country to submit their music online in a competition to play alongside headliners the Futureheads and Frank Turner. The new music festival is using Twitter to give unsigned bands the chance to play in front of the 3,000-strong crowd.

More than 1,200 bands have already contacted the organisers to try to grab a memorable slice of festival action over the weekend on May 28 and 29 in Norfolk. And organiser Olly Sear has promised that each and every band will get a fair hearing.

The response has been phenomenal, and it’s going to be a marathon session listening to all the bands that have sent us music,” he said.

But we’re looking froward to it and you never know, we could unearth a major new talent. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to gatecrash a festival.

Bands should follow @playfestuk, tweet their band name and a link to a video or audio file of a song, and add the hashtag #wewanttoplayatplayfest.

Entries must be in by April 30, that gives you 9 days, with the result being tweeted live on May 1.

As well as the main stage, which also features darwin deez, The Killing Blues, and The Kabeedies, a dance arena hosts Grooverider while an acoustic stage with minimal amplification, in collaboration with Access to Music, provides the chance to picnic while listening to some of the UK’s top acoustic acts.
