A Pop-Up Stranger Things Bar Has Just Opened in Chicago
The kids of Hawkins are set to return to Netflix in October, but in the meantime Joes in the US are going to be partying like a Demogorgon at Chicago’s The Upside Down, a Stranger Things-inspired pop-up bar which pays homage to the show by dropping a paranormal Hawkins, Indiana right in the heart of the Windy City.
Yes, a whole bar filled dedicated to your favourite Neflix show has just opened in Chicago and it looks absolutely incredible. The Upside Down pop-up bar will be the end of Summer 80’s dance party of your dreams, filled with curious Things inspired by and paying homage to the already cult-classic television show.
The space is loaded with references from the series with artworks and design installations from local artists and designers. There’s alphabetised Christmas lights on the walls, a projector for the Hawkins Middle School A.V. Club, and even a table complete with Eleven’s Eggo’s stuck to the ceiling.
As well as the occasional musical performance from some ‘very special mystery guests’, the bar is fully stock beneath the subtle glow of Joyce’s Christmas light wall with some Stranger-inspired cocktails like ‘Eleven’s Eggo’s’ and ‘She’s Our Friend & She’s Crazy’. Oh, and there’s also an arcade filled with 80s classics! Who knows, ‘maybe you’ll even run into Barb.’
Located at 2367 N Milwaukee Ave, The Upside Down pop-up bar will be open Wednesdays – Sundays (Weds-Fri: 5pm-2am, Sat: 12pm-3am, Sun: 12pm-2am) through until the end of September. Head over to the Emporium Chicago Website for more details and check out the trailer for Stranger Things Season 2, which returns to Netflix on 27th October!
