It may seem like it was just yesterday, but believe it or not it’s been over a year since David Bowie passed away. To celebrate the Starman’s incredible career and legacy, the Royal Mail have just announced Bowie as the focus of the next instalment in their Music Giants Special Stamp series.
Gone but never forgotten. The Royal Mail has just announced that David Bowie will be getting his own stamp collection. Celebrating ‘one of the most influential music and cultural figures of all time’, the Royal Mail David Bowie Stamp Collection features the album covers for Hunky Dory, Aladdin Sane, “Heroes”, Let’s Dance, Earthling, and his final record, Blackstar.
As well as being able to get all the stamps individually, there’s also a whole load of commemorative packs that you can buy if you’re not going to be using the stamps to, you know, send letters!
The Presentation Pack, for example, takes a look back at Bowie’s career – from his early influences to the jazz-influenced rock of his final opus Blackstar – and features all six Special Stamps as well as a Stamp Sheet.
There’s also the First Day Cover which as well as featuring all six Special Stamps, the pack gives offers a London SW9 handstamp and an information card, with the London SW9 postcode referring to Bowie’s birthplace of Brixton.
The Royal Mail David Bowie Special Stamp Collection issue will be released on Tuesday 14th March 2017 but you can head over to the Royal Mail Website now and pre-order. The Presentation Pack will set you back £11.30 while a First Day Cover Stamp Sheet costs £5.60.
