Autumn is always a great time of year for TV with new series’ dropping on a weekly basis. But while Stranger Things Season 2 is grabbing all the Netflix attention at the moment, a new western series by Steven Soderbergh and Netflix has gone under the radar. It’s called Godless, and we think it looks like a cracker.

Godless has been created by award-winning, critically-beloved Hollywood giant Steven Soderbergh and his Out of Sight screenwriter Scott Frank. Set out west in the 1880s, the six-part series will tell the tale of Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels), an outlaw who is hell bent on hunting down his former crew member, Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell).

As Roy hides out in a New Mexican mining town called La Belle, he meets badass widow, Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery). Alongside the rest of the predominantly female town, the duo prepare for an ultimate gun-slinging showdown as Griffin and his murderous bearded men arrive in town.

Netflix had only been offering up short snippets of footage, but as of yesterday we finally have a full trailer – and it’s certainly peaked our interest. With the success of Westworld, there seems to be an appetite for the western genre with a difference; a town ran by tough women seems like as good as any to us.

The cast also looks superb. Jeff Daniels is always worth a watch and we’ve been waiting for Jack O’Connell to get his breakthrough role – this could just be it. As you’d expect from a Western, the trailer shows plenty of very serious cinematic violence too. All the ingredients are there!

Netflix’s Godless is set to hit the streaming service on 22nd November for a limited 6 episode run. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
