Netflix have been smashing their originals series out of the park in the last year or so with the likes of Better Call Saul, Daredevil and Orange is the New Black all receiving plaudits from critics and audiences alike. But nothing the streaming service has produced has taken off quite like Stranger Things did last summer. If you were as hooked as we were, you’ll be pleased to hear the kids of Hawkins are back this October and the first teaser trailer dropped during last night’s Super Bowl!
Yes, last night gave the world the first look at Season 2 of Netflix’s Stranger Things. The good news is all your favourite’s are back with Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and of course, Eleven (she’s alive!), all signed up for more monsters and Dungeons & Dragons. The bad news is there’s still monsters – and one of them looks like a gigantic spider-like creature!
The trailer doesn’t give much away – it is only a teaser after all – but what’s clear is Will is struggling after his gargoyle abduction and the shows creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, are still going heavy on the 80s nostalgia with the kids of Hawkins Middle School dressed as Ghostbusters. Perfect.
As well as all the kids, Winona Ryder and David Harbour are signed up for Season 2, and there’s new additions too with the likes of Sean Astin coming in a Bob Newby, a former schoolmate of Joyce and Hopper (Ryder and Harbour), who now runs the Hawkins Radio Shack, and becomes Joyce’s boyfriend, putting him at odds with Hopper.
Along with the second season announcement, all nine episode titles were revealed. The first episode is titled ‘Madmax’. Of course a reference to the 80s film, it’s also almost certainly a reference to a new character played by Sadie Sink named Max.
Stranger Things Season 2 will return to Netflix this October. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Also check out all the big Super Bowl LI Adverts.
