London Pizza Festival 2019

Six of the capital’s pizza greats will compete for glory at the ultimate pizza bake off this Sunday at Borough Market. Yes, a thousand Londoners will descend to the London Pizza Festival to consume and compare 6 slices cut from 6 pizza makers and then vote to crown the 2019 London Pizza Festival Champion.

The pizza haunts competing for the title are; 50 Kalò (Trafalgar Square), Gloria Trattoria (Shoreditch), L’Antica Pizza da Michele (Baker Street), and Theo’s (Camberwell and Elephant and Castle), as well as mobile upstarts The Dough Shack (south-west London) and Ffwrnes (Cardiff). Tickets can be booked for any of 3 overlapping sessions beginning at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.

Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience

Friday 31st June – Saturday 31st August. £49.50.

Jeff Wayne’s best-selling Musical Version of The War of The Worlds has been transformed into an interactive, immersive 110 minute adventure and it’s opening to the public this Friday. The multisensory experience will combine Wayne’s music, immersive theatre, virtual reality, augmented reality, holograms and other cutting-edge technology.

Audiences are tasked with surviving the Martian invasion of 1898 as live and virtual actors lead groups of up to 12 to walk, crawl and travel into the heart of the story from the moment they step inside. The show is split into two-acts and includes an interval in the immersive Red Weed bar where you can enjoy a drink.

Pub in the Park

Chef Tom Kerridge’s now famed Pub in the Park is heading to Roundhay Park in Leeds this Friday for a glorious three day feast, featuring the very best food the country has to offer. After the success of our launch in Marlow in 2017, Pub in the Park is touring the country with a stellar line up of world-class chefs and Michelin-starred pubs.

Alongside chef demonstrations and farmer’s markets, other top UK pubs and restaurants will be serving up their most popular dishes – including Kerridge’s own The Hand & Flowers and Tommy Banks’ Black Swan Oldstead – while live music from the likes of Tom Odell and Basement Jaxx (DJ Set) should keep you occupied when your stomach can’t fit in anymore!

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Birmingham Italian Street Food Festival

If you’re into your Italian food, Birmingham’s Soho House is the place to be this Sunday as they welcome the first ever Birmingham Italian Street Food Festival. Celebrating all things Italian, Soho House will be transformed into a Little Italy with a selection of foods, wines, drinks, taster sessions and entertainment.

The event is being put on in celebration of Festa Della Repubblica (when Italians voted to abolish the Monarchy on 2nd June 1946), with your ticket granting you entry into the festival as well as a drink and taster. There’ll also be live music, dance, arts and a whole host of family activities throughout the day.

Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol

Colston Hall Record and CD Fair

Saturday 1st June 2019. Free.

The biggest record fair in the South West is once again back at Colston Hall this Saturday. Spread over three floors, the Record & CD Fair will feature up to seventy dealers and traders from all over, with buyers coming in from as far-afield as Japan, Russia and Poland.

The fair is mostly vinyl, (LP, 12” and 7”), but there’ll also be a few CD traders selling hard-to-find and discounted titles. You’ll find everything in the hall, from £1 bargains to expensive rarities, and dealers specialising in most genres of music from the fifties to present day. There’ll also be decks available on the day to check out tunes before you buy.
