Things to Do This Weekend in London

The Big London Night Walk

Friday 8th March 2019. £25.

After ‘Best from the East’ cancelled last year’s event, The Big London Night Walk is back for 2019! This Friday over 400 participants will take to the streets of London for an alternative Friday night out in collaboration with the Big Issue. Starting off in central London, the unique 13 mile route will take you on a tour of the iconic sites at night.

As well as taking in the landmarks, walkers will also get personal insights from Big Issue vendors before heading off. There are three rest stops along the way with refreshments to fuel walkers throughout the night and Shoreditch Town Hall will remain open until public transport re-starts. All funds raised will go directly to supporting Big Issue vendors.

Vegan Life Live

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th March 2019. From £10.

Vegan life can be tough. So the good folk at Ally Pally are throwing one giant meat- and dairy-free food festival this weekend called ‘Vegan Life Live’! Featuring the likes of pizza, kebabs, ice creams, pasta, curry and soul food, it’s probably best you turn up with an empty stomach.

Alongside some of the capital’s premier vegan food vendors, there’ll also be some incredible vegan chefs offering inspiration during cookery demos, and there’ll also be an ‘EcoLiving Zone’ dedicated to advice, guidance and products that will help you to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

Manchester Film Festival

Until Sunday 10th 2019. Prices vary.

It seems as though there’s a Film Festival every weekend these days, and this weekend it’s the turn of Manchester. Taking place at the Odeon in the Great Northern, the programme includes over 150 films, including documentary features, shorts, experimental films, music videos, animations, and virtual reality, as well as a host of Q&As.

The closing night gala this Sunday will feature showings of Hotel Mumbai, starring Dev Patel; and the Werner Herzog documentary Meeting Gorbachev. Other highlights include ‘Filmmaker Studios’ workshops at the old Granada building, and lectures about horror screenwriting and financing independent films.

Things to Do This Weekend in Cardiff

Film & Comic Con Cardiff

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th March 2019. Adults from £8.

Film & Comic Con Cardiff is back at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff this weekend and once again it will bring together some of your favourite stars from TV, Film and the Comic Book industry, with photo shoots, panel talks, autograph sessions, retro video gaming, cosplay masquerades, and TV & film memorabilia stalls all on the programme.

Highlights this weekend include appearances from Robert Englund, who played “Freddy Kruger”; Colin Baker who played the role of “The Doctor” in Doctor Who; and Harry Potter’s Mr Weasley “Mark Williams”. Walking Dead star Lawrence Gillard Jr. will also be in attendance.

Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol

Bristol Hoppers Triple Brewery Tour

Friday 8th March 2019. £25.

Why visit just one local brewery when you can visit three!? Well, Friday is your lucky day with the return of the Bristol Hopper’s ‘Triple Brewery Tour’. After meeting at Moor Beer Co. (Bristol’s first ‘tap room’), you’ll then head over to Lost & Grounded Brewery before finishing off at the city’s newest brewery Cocksure.

While visiting the breweries, you’ll learn about the beer making process with a tour and enjoy either three thirds or two halves of their own delicious beer made right there on the premises, all included in the price, along with some snacks. What better way to spend you Friday night?
