Things to Do This Weekend

Every week we’ll be giving Joes the best things to do this weekend no matter where you are in the country. Whether it’s the best new bars, clubs, restaurants, films or events, we’ve got you covered!

Things to Do This Weekend in London

Camden Town Brewery Tank Party
Saturday 1st October. Free.

One of London’s best brewers, Camden Town Brewery, is hosting its fourth annual Tank Party this weekend, which sees the North London brewery open its doors – and most importantly its tanks – to beer-loving Joes across the capital.

As well as being able to drink Camden’s ever-popular unfiltered Hells lager straight from the 60 hectolitre tank (that’s 10,000 pints!), you’ll also be able to get your lips around an unfiltered version of the popular Pale Ale for the very first time. There’ll also be live music, street food, free brewery tours, live mural drawings and games throughout the day.

Location: 55-59 Wilkin Street Mews, Kentish Town, NW5 3NN. Nearest Tube: Kentish Town.

Oktober Feast
Friday 30th September – Saturday 1st October. From £16.

If you can’t make it to Munich this month, there’s no better way to celebrate Oktoberfest in London than at Hawker House with Oktober Feast. Brought to you by the Street Feast Joes, over 50 fantastic brews will be on offer, spanning the globe from Brooklyn to Bermondsey, Camden to Cologne, and Munich to Maryland.

As well as all the amber nector, there’ll be plenty of grub on offer with Street Feast regulars such as Bleecker St., HotBox and Prawnography all on duty. Of course, there’ll naturally be all the sauerkraut, currywurst and deep-fried strudel you can eat too. Plus everyone gets to take their tankard home!

Location: Hawker House, Canada Street, SE16 2XU. Nearest Tube: Canada Water.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

Salford Music Festival
Saturday 30th September – Sunday 2nd October. Free.

We all know Manchester is a hotbed of musical talent and this weekend the city gets to show off some of that talent with the Salford Music Festival. Spread across 10 venues, the line-up offers an exhaustive showcase of the region’s finest alt/indie/rock/folk talent.

A load of venues across the city have got involved, including pubs like The Eagle Inn and The Salford Arms, as well as night of music at the Sacred Trinity Church on Friday which should offer Joes a unique listening experience.

Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol

Freedom of Mind Festival
Saturday 30th September – Monday 10th October.

The Freedom of Mind Festival hits Bristol this weekend with a week-long a series of events in various locations across the city designed to encourage conversation and debate about mental health, as well as offering practical tools to help deal with specific issues.

One of the standout events this weekend is ‘Let’s Talk Men’s Freedom of Mind’, a talk with the ‘Man Up Man Down’ campaign who are dedicated to improving Joe’s mental health. Taking place at the White Bear pub (so you can have a beer to take the edge off such a heavy topic), the discussion will revolve around the perception of masculinity.

Location: Various.

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Solihull BIG Taste Festival
Friday 30th September & Saturday 1st October. Free.

Food and drink festivals are our weekend catnip and this weekend it’s the turn of Solihull to do the hosting with the BIG Taste Festival. Taking place in Mell Square, the sixth annual BIG Taste will feature 24 stalls, each providing tastes and aromas from around the world.

Among the many food and drink highlights is the recently-opened Beech House Restaurant, which will have its own Beech Hut stall offering pulled pork, lamba koftas and brownies. The local Walkabout will also be on duty serving Aussie beef burgers, kangaroo burgers, wild boar burgers and classic hot dogs.

Location: Mell Square, B91 3AZ.
