Things to Do This Weekend in London

Carnaby Street Eat

Saturday 11th August. Free.

Soho and Carnaby Street are always worth a stroll on any weekend but this Saturday especially so. And that’s because the annual Carnaby Street Eat is back with 30 of Carnaby Street’s restaurants, bars and cafés serving up their treats. You’ll get the chance to taste affordable signature plates and cocktails, dine on the West End’s longest picnic table and listen to great live music and DJ sets.

There’s 30 stalls in total with the likes of Claw, Pastaio, Jinjjuu, Pizza Pilgrims and Le Bab all on duty, with most offering £5 taster dishes and exclusive on-the-day offers. You can also expect live music throughout the day and special 1940s entertainment from Cahoots!

NBA Crossover London

Friday 10th – Sunday 12th August. Free.

The NBA will once again host NBA Crossover this weekend, a cultural exhibition displaying the convergence of the NBA and popular culture. Using interactive exhibits, visitors will navigate their way through the exhibition at Westfield bringing to life the music, fashion, art, and entertainment that surround today’s game.

It’s being put on ahead of the NBA London Game 2019, which will see the New York Knicks take on the Washington Wizards at The O2 in January. Highlights at the exhibition include virtual reality experiences, art displays, photos with The Larry O’Brien Trophy and panel discussions with local speakers. Register for free here.

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Digbeth Dining Club Street Food Battle

Saturday 11th August. £10.

The Midlands’ premier street food hang out, Digbeth Dining Club, is turning 6 this weekend. And to celebrate six glorious years of bringing delicious street food to the masses, the gang are hosting an unmissable ‘Street Food Battle’ event which will pit Brum street grub vendors against some of London’s best, provided by street food giants KERB.

There’ll be 16 stalls in total with KERB and DDC each bringing eight of their finest traders for the event at Digbeth Arena to see which city does the best grub. The likes of Original Patty Men, Only Jerkin and Wingmans will be representing the Midlands. Get your tickets here.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

Caribbean Carnival of Manchester 2018

Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th August. Free.

Manchester’s world famous Caribbean Carnival celebrates 70 years since the Windrush generation first hit UK shores this weekend. Taking place at Alexandra Park on Saturday and Sunday, there’ll be three stages, over 50 stalls selling everything from food to fabric, and a huge fairground to boot.

The legendary Caribbean Carnival parade leaves the park at 1pm on Saturday, and will see 30 brightly dressed troupes and 20 parade trucks heading down to Claremont Road before returning back to the park. The event is completely free (though donations are welcome) and there’ll also be arts, crafts and interactive science areas for kids.

Things to Do This Weekend in Cardiff

Summer Cider Festival

Saturday 11th August. £6.

Nothing says summer like a cold, refreshing cider. And this Saturday, Cardiff’s DEPOT will be gathering some of the best, local cider producers to sell and discuss their beverages with the masses. Alongside the all the ciders you can drink, there’ll also be bringing the West Country feel to proceedings with hay bales, bunting and bobbing for apples.

Forget your Scrumpy Jack and your Magners, we’re talking the real deal too! Brewers like Gwyn Y Ddraig will be on hand and there’ll also be delicious street food traders on duty to ensure you’re not famished. Doors open at 12pm and close at 11pm. Get your tickets here.
