Things to Do This Weekend in London

Canalway Cavalcade
Saturday 5th – Monday 7th May. Free.

Little Venice is always a good place to head on any weekend. But this bank holiday weekend the waterways will be even more colourful than usual as it’s the annual Canalway Cavalcade! Over 100 boats will be moored along the stretch of the Grand Union Canal for an event which has taken place every year since 1983.

The boats will naturally be decked out in full attire, while on the drier lands you’ll find food stalls, music, Morris dancers and a real ale tent. They’ll also be plenty of entertainment for the kids. Fingers crossed for at least a little sun!

Block Party Cinema
Sunday 6th May. From £12.

Cinema pop-ups are one of our favourite things to do in London during the summer, and this weekend sees one of the best of them role into town. Block Party Cinema are renowned for their experiential cinema events which celebrate black and diverse, and this Sunday they’ll be screening the modern cult classic, Fruitvale Station (2002).

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler’s debut feature film reconstructs the final 24 hours of Oscar Grant III (Michael B Jordan), a young black man who was gunned down by Californian police on New Year’s Day in 2009. The Film Club at Pop Brixton always has good vibes and there’ll also be street food and DJ sets to keep you fully occupied. Buy tickets here.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

GRUB at Mayfield Depot
Friday 4th – Sunday 6th May. Free.

The ever popular GRUB street food fair heads to Mayfield Depot over the bank holiday weekend with a bigger bar and even more space for some of the North West’s best vendors. GRUB’s winter home at Fairfield Social Club on Temperance Street is hosting a whole load of events over the summer – hence the move – but Mayfield will feature a new decked area and larger covered seating space for when the rains arrive.

Kicking off things for the summer, this weekend’s line-up includes the likes of The Gravy Train Poutine, Howlin Tacos, Parmstar, The Ottomen and Drizzle City Bakes, while the bar will feature double the number of cask beers, from the likes of Runaway, Atom, Magic Rock and Squawk.

Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol

Tropical Rooftop Brunch
Saturday 5th May. From £10.

Hosted by Bristol food event kings Foozie, Tropical Rooftop Brunch heads to one of Bristol’s most beautiful rooftop venues, The Radnor Rooms, for the first of its summer pop-ups. The space will be transformed into a tropical paradise with house and disco beats being pumped alongside the ‘Flamingo Kitchen’ that will be serving up Caribbean and Mediterranean inspired BBQ dishes.

Expect palm trees, inflatables, and delicious rooftop bar at this covered venue, where some of Bristol’s hottest house and disco DJs will be taking you into summer. Tickets are £10 for entry only but you can pay £18 which will grab you brunch too, save yourself £4 by buying in advance.

Things to Do This Weekend in Glasgow

Big Feed Street Food Social
Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th May. £2.

Scotland biggest indoor street food market, Big Feed, returns this weekend to its location on Govan Road, bringing with it a whole host of incredible street food vendors from near and far, as well as live music and DJs, games for kids and outdoor seating.

Vendors will change daily but this weekend you’ve got the chance to sample gourmet hotdogs from Firedog with all the trimmings, Mexican wraps from Burrito, and authentic slices from Nomad Pizza. Booze will be supplied by The Prosecco Chaps and there’ll also be some mini golf courtesy of the Street Food Putter Club.
