Things to Do This Weekend

Every week we’ll be giving Joes the best things to do this weekend no matter where you are in the country. Whether it’s the best new bars, clubs, restaurants, films or events, we’ve got you covered!

Things to Do This Weekend in London

Wahaca Day of the Dead Festival
Saturday 7th November. £31.50.

It was the Mexican Dia de los Muertos this week, a festival which celebrates and honours loved ones who have passed on. To celebrate the occasion, Mexican street food chain Wahaca are throwing their own fiesta at the Tobacco Dock!

The Mexican-themed festival will feature live music and some of the best spicy food you can ever image. The line-up of music includes some pretty big hitters with The Horrors, Crystal Fighters, Savages and Mexican Morrissey and The Smiths cover band Mexrrissey on hand to ensure you’ve got something to throw your tequila-infused moves to!

Location: Tobacco Dock, 50 Porters Walk. E1W 2SF. Nearest Tube: Shadwell DLR.

Renegade Craft Fair
Saturday 7th-Sunday 8th November. Free.

If you’re looking for something to do with your partner this weekend and want to get some early Christmas shopping in after pay day, you might fancy the Renegade Craft Fair at the Old Truman’s Brewery. Designers and craftsmen will fill up Brick Lane offering their works which range from jewellery to interior designs, prints to toys and everything else in between.

Over 200 stalls will hit the Old Brewery and they’ll be plenty of DIY workshops, installations and activities taking place throughout the weekend so you can either pop in or make a real day of it. Usually the event saved for our friends over the Atlantic with the Renegade Fair making its way to our shores just twice a year – so don’t miss out!

Location: Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. Nearest Tube: Liverpool Street.

Things to Do This Weekend in Liverpool

Alma de Cuba Bar & Restaurant
Daily. 12.00pm-02.00am at Weekends.

If you live around Liverpool, chances are you’ve heard of ‘Alma’, as the locals call it. If you haven’t or you’ve just never been, do yourself a favour and head down. What used to be a grand Catholic church, Alma de Cuba is now a two floor restaurant and bar with stain glass windows stretching from top to bottom and a sky high ceiling making this one of the most atmospheric joints in the North West.

The restaurant upstairs serves modern Tapas and Latin-influenced dishes while the downstairs bar serves some of the finest cocktails in the city. If you’re making a night of it, their big event on Fridays and Saturdays is The Petal Drop and on Sundays they even have a live gospel choir performing to really set the mood!

Location: St Peters’ Church, Seel Street. L1 4BH.

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Acoustic Music Night at The Old Crown
Every Sunday. 6.00pm-10.00pm. Free.

If you’re looking to wind down this Sunday in Birmingham then head over to The Old Crown near the Custard Factory. An acoustic music night is thrown every Sunday in what is claimed to be the oldest inn in Birmingham.

The night showcases different performers each week from Birmingham and the surrounding area. Even if you’re not into the music, the setting couldn’t be better – the Grade II listed building dates back to around 1368 and serves excellent beers/ales and if you can handle the cold this time of year has a large garden out back. A Birmingham must.

Location: 188 High Street, Birmingham. B12 0LD

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

Northern Quarter Makers Market
Sunday 8th November. Free.

Manchester’s Northern Quarter is welcoming a new monthly market this weekend. Showcasing the best local producers, The Makers Market will be bringing an array of different stalls to the city including food, drink, crafts and vintage clothing to Stevenson Square.

The launch event this Sunday will feature all the stall as well as live entertainment for Joes and Janes including a showcase from renowned graffiti artist Kelzo, a performance from dance studio B Twist as well as music from musicians around Manchester. A perfect way to spend your Sunday!
