Things to Do This Weekend

Every week we’ll be giving Joes the best things to do this weekend no matter where you are in the country. Whether it’s the best new bars, clubs, restaurants, films or events, we’ve got you covered!
Things to Do This Weekend in London
Friday 16th – Sunday 18th December. £15-20.
It’s no secret we love our gin here at AJ HQ, and this weekend celebrates the juniper juggernaut with the Ginvent Pop-Up 2016. This year Gin Foundry offered up a gin calendar which gave Joes the opportunity to try 24 new spirits. For one weekend only, the company will be decking the halls with boughs of holly and playing host to a pop-up Gin Bar, which will serve all 24 Ginvent gins.
Alongside the array of gins, they’ll be masterclasses and tasting sessions throughout the weekend. Unsurprisingly, tonic topboys Fever-Tree will be on hand to meet your mixing needs, topping up your tasting glasses with their award winning tonics.
Location: The Vinyl Factory, 52 Poland Street, W1F 7LZ. Nearest Tube: Oxford Circus.
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th December. Free.
‘Up and coming’ can be used to describe virtually everywhere in London these days but the phrase probably couldn’t be more apt for Tooting. This weekend, the team behind Tootopia returns just in time for Christmas with Tootsmas 2016. A whole load of Tooting pubs/cafes/spaces are involved, each putting on festive-inspired events and pop-ups.
The infamous Tooting Tram & Social will be hosting a Tootsmas Wonderland with festive films on the big screen, Christmassy tunes, mulled drinks and over twenty magical designer-makers selling trinkets and gifts for all ages ready to wear, wrap or keep. There’ll also be Street Food Takeover at the Graveney & Meadow bringing the likes of Saffa Hut, The Gravy Train and Gyoza Guys.
Location: Various. Nearest Tube: Tooting Broadway.

As well as music and booze, the two-hour slots also give you access to all the bratwurst and stolen you could feast on from locally sourced festive food stalls. Make sure you book your ticket as they’ll be a ‘zero queue policy’ for all ticket holders.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester
Capturing Pablo: Narcos Live
Friday 16th & Saturday 17th December. From £27.50.
If you’ve been loving Netflix’s Narcos as much as we have, folks in Manchester might want to head to the Manchester Academy this weekend as the real DEA Agents who took down drug lord Pablo Escobar are in town to share their stories and experiences in a live Q&A-style show.
Javier Pena and Steve Murphy will be recounting their amazing experiences as they watched the rise of Colombia’s Medellin Cartel and helped to assist the fall of the man they called the King of Cocaine. As well as all the wild stories, you’ll also have a chance to ask questions at the end.
Location: Manchester University Students Union, Oxford Road, M13 9PR.
Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol
Spiegeltent Masquerade Ball
Saturday 17th December. £24.
Bristol’s Spiegeltent is hosting its infamous Masquerade Ball this weekend for another unforgettable evening of live music, curious cabaret and some of the best DJs around, which promises a night of part prohibition-style drinking and part festival field.
Anything goes here so if you’re not into dressing up don’t worry too much, but if you’re into your glitter and high heels – go to town! High-class or trashy, the Spiegeltent doesn’t discriminate. Just make sure you bring your mask!
Location: Christmas Spiegeltent, Waterfront Square, Harbourside, BS1 5LL.
