Heist Bank Beer Festival

Friday 12th – Sunday 14th October. £15.

October is always the best time of year to catch a beer festival and if you want to avoid the chaos of Oktoberfest with something craftier, head to Paddington’s Heist Bank for their annual Beer Festival! Bringing you the very best of both keg and cask brews, they’ll be over 50 taps showcasing breweries from the UK, Scandinavia and Australasia with over 100 beers being poured across the weekend.

Alongside special seasonal releases and collaborative brews, there’ll be workshops and tastings involving all thing beer and food, live beer podcasts and even some beer yoga. The Heist Bank chefs will also be serving up a selection of signature pizzas, while DJs spin tracks over the night sessions. Tesco x Bompas & Parr DEVOUR Exhibition

Until Saturday 13th October. Free.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Tesco Finest, the UK’s biggest supermarket is launching a pop-up exhibition with immersive dining experts Bompas & Parr. Called ‘DEVOUR’, the immersive exhibition fuses the worlds of food, art, design and theatre to create an exploration behind its products and an adventure for all the senses.

Launching on Thursday, Devour will allow food lovers to travel through six different multi-sensory experiences including a champagne-inspired ‘bubble catching experience’, a Himalayan salt mine and an ‘edible rainbow’ room. Tickets will be free, though should be booked in advance to secure a place here.

Manchester Oktoberfest

Until Sunday 14th October. From Free.

Another October weekend, another Oktoberfest. This time it’s Manchester’s biggest entry with Albert Square once again being transformed into one giant German beer tent. Bringing together all the usual ingredients, the festival will feature authentic German food and drink, as well as live music and full Oktoberfest decoration.

The tent itself will have room for 2,000 patrons while the giant outdoor beer garden will give anyone looking for a swift stein the chance to experience the Bavarian vibes. As well as serving a special brewed festival beer, bratwurst, schnitzel and pretzel will also be ensuring you don’t go famished. International Dumpling Festival

Saturday 13th October. £7.

Who doesn’t like a dumpling? We happen to love a dumpling and this weekend the award winning Taste and Liquor presents the UK’s first ever International Dumpling Festival. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, the street food festival will be serving dumplings from various regions of the world at Boxxed in Digbeth.

The festival has collaborated with six Midlands street-food vendors to curate a mouth-watering new menu of dumplings with offerings hailing from the likes of Poland, Jamaica, India, Korea and the US, as well as sweet and vegan options available. Naturally there’ll also be a well-stocked bar and DJs spinning tunes all day. Get your tickets here.

Things to Do This Weekend in Norwich

Oktoberfest Norwich

Thursday 11th – Saturday 13th October. From £10.

Last weekend it was Eaton Park but this weekend it’s the turn of OPEN to celebrate Oktoberfest in Norwich. The Bank Plain venue will again be transformed into a German themed Bierkeller, complete with authentic Bavarian beer, food and entertainment.

As well as authentic German beers and Bavarian bratwurst, there’ll also be a Gin and Prosecco Bar for those who want a glass of fizz with their schnitzel. Entertainment will be provided by classic German Oom-pah and Euro-Pop bands. There’s four sessions across the weekend, so book your tickets here.
