Things to Do This Weekend in London

Magical Lantern Festival
Until Monday 1st January. From £18.

The Magical Lantern Festival is back in London this weekend to celebrate the festive as well as marking the end of Chinese New Year. The festival floats back to West London’s Chiswick House and Garden in an event perfect for all the family.

The festival sees light installations, performances, art and theatre all hit the Palladian villa, including over 50 giant hand-sculpted lanterns – one of which is a 60m long glowing dragon spread across the house’s lake. There’ll be plenty of international food on offer too and Joes can even design and construct their own lanterns.

Scandinavian Christmas Market
Friday 24th – Sunday 26th November. Free.

We love our London festive food markets and it’s the turn of Scandinavia to show us what they’ve got this weekend with the Scandinavia Christmas Market in Rotherhithe when the charming pavements of Albion Street will be taken over this Friday, Saturday and Sunday by all things Nordic.

The stretch between the Finnish and Norwegian churches will be filled with a load of stalls selling food, crafts and toys. There’ll be music throughout the day as well as plenty of hearty dishes and warming mugs of Nordic glögg to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Things to Do This Weekend in Cardiff

The Burger Festival
Sunday 26th November. From £5.

DEPOT Cardiff is always the place to be when the weekend rolls around and this Sunday is no different with the first ever Burger Festival! Cardiff’s biggest event organisers, Paper, will be throwing the event which has just one aim; to host a double topping, cheese dripping, Burger party.

The awesome DEPOT venue will be filled to the brim with stalls serving various burger guises full of extra toppings as well as epic sliders and a number of delicious sides. Naturally, there’ll be lots of great beers to accompany your patty sandwich, and tunes will be dropped by some of Cardiff’s top DJ’s.

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

The Refinery Spinningfields Igloo Bar
From Friday 24th November.

Giant pop-up igloo are all the rage in London this Christmas, and they’ve made their way North too as two will be opening this Friday at The Refinery Spinningfields. The two domes will take over the courtyard outside The Refinery and they’ll have their own dedicated food menu ready for the Christmas party season.

Featuring small plates such as seared sirloin with Copper Dog mustard and BBQ pork sliders, each igloo caters for groups of 8-10 people and will be kitted out with wood burner-style heaters, blankets, hot water bottles and Aran jumpers to keep guests nice and toasty. A drinks menu full of winter warmers such as caramel apple hot toddies will also be available.

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Ice Skate Birmingham
Until Sunday 7th January.

While the £10 million redevelopment of Centenary Square has resulted in the Christmas Craft Market being cancelled this year, fear not – the ice rink and big wheel are back. They’re just be in a new location on Eastside Green just off Curzon Street, giving Joes the opportunity to still enjoy a festive skate in beautiful city surroundings.

There’s over 600sq. metres of ice meaning that Ice Skate Birmingham can accommodate whopping 300 people at a time. Along with the opening of the rink, the Big Wheel has also opened, giving you some incredible views of the city. Not only that, there’s also a funfair and food stalls, with one offering a full Christmas dinner in a Yorkshire Pudding wrap!
