Things to Do This Weekend in London

Peckham Levels Launch Weekend
Friday 8th December – Sunday 10th December. Free.

A cultural hub for Peckham is set to open this week. Called ‘Peckham Levels’, the event space has transformed seven inner levels of Peckham’s famous multi-story car park, with the first five floors the space showcasing some of the area’s brightest talents in fashion, art and film taking over 50 studios and co-working spaces.

The upper two levels, which will always be open to the public, will show Peckham’s stellar food and drink line up, featuring the likes of Kurdish restaurant Nandine, all day vegetarian cafe and canteen WILDFLOWER, chicken wing specialist Drum & Flats, and classic French cuisine from Canard. For the launch, a special weekend of events has been curated with activities ranging from workshops, exhibitions, performances and interactive installations.

Portobello Winter Festival
Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th December. Free.

The second annual Portobello Winter Festival is back this weekend, combining Christmas festivities with the unique atmosphere of Portobello Road. The Festival will reflect all of Portobello’s uniqueness with festive stalls and performances on 2 stages. There’ll be a Santa’s grotto for little ones, and festive live performances throughout the day.

A Winter Moorish Bazaar is one of the Winter Festival’s biggest highlights, with the Bazaar featuring a variety of stalls including arts & crafts, fashion & accessories, and all-natural skincare products. As well as the stalls there’ll be live entertainment in the form of music, spoken word, social speaking, dance, and DJs.

Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham

Digbeth Après Ski
Fridays & Saturdays until 23rd December. From £12.50.

This weekend marks the first of Birmingham’s oldest pub being turned into an Alpine ski lodge for Christmas. Digbeth Après Ski will take place over three weekends this December, turning The Old Crown beer garden into a snow-capped paradise with pine trees, falling snow, ski racks, piste maps and strings of lights and lanterns.

Cosy up in the heated marquee on fur-lined benches with a festive cocktails and partygoers can enjoy the perfect wintry escape indulge with mulled wine, hot spiced cider, hot chocolate, cocktails, European beers, champagne cocktails and of course Schnapps. Birmingham’ street food traders will offer an Alpine-inspired menu, so expect a twist on the French classics such as fondue and raclette.

Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol

The Xmas Tavern

Another festive drinking establishment to enjoy this season, Bristol has finally opened its doors to a Christmas pop-up pub. Located on Gloucester Road within the grounds of the Nailsea Electrical building, The Xmas Tavern is the ultimate wintry spot to waste away an hour or two in a state of festive bliss.

Naturally, mulled wines and ciders are the order of the day here. But as the tavern is a full blow pub, you’ll also find all of your favourite lagers and ciders on draught too. The place is decked out with snug sofas, cosy blankets and lots of roaring open fire pits where you can toast marshmallows, so it’s ideal if you need a break from all that shopping!

Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester

Didsbury Winter Market
Saturday 9th December. Free.

The fourth instalment of the Didsbury Winter Market heads to the idyllic Ivy Church this Saturday. Their latest Christmas pop up will be showcasing all the usual ornate artisanal finds, as well as a cracking line-up of street food traders and beverage makers from around the city to keep you suitably watered and fed.

Given the time of year, it’s no shock that the Winter Market will be hosting a wreath making course, and this year there’ll even be actual genuine reindeers making an appearance – so the market is perfect for the kids (and big kids) too!
