Things to Do This Weekend

Every week we’ll be giving Joes the best things to do this weekend no matter where you are in the country. Whether it’s the best new bars, clubs, restaurants, films or events, we’ve got you covered!
Things to Do This Weekend in London
Redchurch Brewery Street Party
Saturday 10th September. Free.
London’s brewery scene is at an all-time peak with micros filling the entire city with hoppy amber goodness. One of our favourites in the capital has always been Redchurch Brewery and to celebrate the opening of their brand new Harlow site, Redchurch are taking over a street in Bethnal Green for a big old street party!
The afternoon/evening bash will take place on Poyser Street (Redchurch’s original site) and will consist of pretty much everything you’d want from a street party, with great beer from the brewery, tasty BBQ from Prairie Fire BBQ, and plain good vibes. Our tip; try the Paradise Pale Ale, a 3.7% light American style pale ale – perfect for a session!
Location: Redchurch Brewery, Poyser Street, E2 9RF. Nearest Tube: Bethnal Green.
The Slider Decider
Saturday 10th September. Free.
London’s obsession with burgers is showing no signs of letting up and this weekend sees 16 of the best chefs and restaurants in London show off their best meaty sandwich inventions in the annual Slider Decider Championships.
Contenders for 2016 include last year’s winner Adam Rawson (head chef at Peruvian/British fusion restaurant Pachamama), Richard O’Connell (Tom’s Kitchen), and former MasterChef winner Tim Anderson of Nanban. Joes can taste each chef’s entry for £3 and booze will be provided by the Botanist bar and Long Arm Brewing Co. Music will also naturally play on into the night!
Location: Broadgate Circle, EC2M 2BL. Nearest Tube: Liverpool Street.
Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham
40 St Paul’s
Open Daily (except Mondays) Until 11pm.
If you’ve ever read one of our Things to Dos, you’ll know just how much we love our gin here at Average Joes. Well, one of the best gin bars we’ve been to is Birmingham’s 40 St Paul’s. Serving some of the best gin and tonics in the country, 40 St Paul’s flavour-matches an extensive menu of gins with their own homemade tonics for some truly exceptional concoctions.
Everything here is presented immaculately and though there’s only 24 seats, don’t think this is in any way pretentious. 40 St Paul’s is just a very cool bar to hang with friends and kick back with one of lives true joys – a refreshing G & T. We recommend you try the Anty Gin (made with real ants)!
Location: 40 Cox Street, B3 1RD.
Things to Do This Weekend in Bristol
Friday 9th – Sunday 11th September. Free.
Summer might be nearly at an end but that doesn’t mean we can’t get in just one more beer festival! Bristol is the place to be this weekend as Bristol Beer Factory are putting together a cracking line up of some of the best craft beers from around the country and further afield.
Taking place at the famed Tabacco Factory, Factoberfest is a family event, so there’ll be plenty to keep the little ones occupied. There’ll also be live blues, Americana and country music throughout the festival, as well as some delicious street food on sale. You know the score!
Location: Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, BS3 1TF.
Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester
Through The Mill Festival
Friday 9th & Saturday 10th September. Free – £6
Taking place this weekend is Manchester’s Through The Mill, a two-day arts and culture festival all about celebrating the music, history, and culture of the Ancoats area of the city. Ancoat’s beautiful, Grade II listed St Peter’s Church will play host to much of the festival including a ‘psychedelic disco tech’ on Friday.
There’ll be plenty going on across the whole weekend with live music, comedy, spoken word and even walking tours around Ancoats all on offer. Naturally food and drinks will play a big part in the festivities too. Lots of things are free but prices vary depending on where you go and what you see.
