Things to Do This Weekend
Every week we’ll be giving Joes the best things to do this weekend no matter where you are in the country. Whether it’s the best new bars, clubs, restaurants, films or events, we’ve got you covered!
Things to Do This Weekend in London
Silent Disco at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium
Friday 22nd December. £29.
You may not have been to a SEA LIFE centre in years. But this Friday the London Aquarium is putting on one of their regular after hours events, and this time they’re going to be hosting a silent disco just before the Christmas weekend. Guests will don a pair of glowing headphones and tune into one of three channels as they immerse themselves in the world of water.
Upon arrival, you’ll get a welcome glass of prosecco before acquainting yourself with the sharks, rays and jellyfish that reside in the Aquarium. Stride across the glass walkway with sharks swimming inches beneath your feet, and explore the Atlantic Cove area and our Pacific Wreck display where you can enjoy a drink at the bar. Tickets include the silent disco, a welcome drink and guided tours of the brand new jellyfish exhibition.
Location: SEA LIFE London Aquarium, Westminster Bridge Rd, SE1 7PB. Nearest Tube: Waterloo.
Brooklyn Brewery Black Christmas
Friday 22nd December. Free.
Brooklyn Brewery is teaming up with one of London’s burger behemoths, Bleecker Burger, this Friday for what they’re calling ‘Black Christmas’. The pair will once again be serving up their somewhat legendary pairing – the beer that doesn’t exist coupled with a patty of the finest beef that almost never existed.
Brooklyn will be serving up one of five kegs in the UK of their mysterious Brooklyn Black Ops alongside Bleecker’s extra special creation made from White Park beef. The pairing is available for just one day only between 11.30am and 4pm at Bleecker Bloomberg. It’s first come, first served so get there early!
Location: Bleecker Bloomberg, 16 Bloomberg Arcade, EC4N 8AR. Nearest Tube: Bank.
Things to Do This Weekend in Birmingham
German Christmas Market
Until Sunday 24th December. Free.
Birmimgham’s German Christmas Market comes to an end this weekend, so it’s your last chance to grab a festive gluhwein and a succulent bratwurst. It’s the largest Christmas market of its kind outside Germany and Austria, and sells everything you could want with a range of German sausages, schnitzel, strudel, pretzels, burgers, fries, waffles and everything in between.
Naturally there’s a bar full-stocked with festive treats, such as mulled wine and hot chocolate, as well as a decent range of German beers. The market also features a range of stalls selling gifts like festive decorations, wooden toys, ornaments, hats, scarves… you know the score!
Location: Victoria Square and New Street.
Things to Do This Weekend in Manchester
The Curious Teepee
Until Sunday 31st December.
For Joes and Janes in Manchester, this weekend marks one of your final opportunities to check out The Curious Teepee in the courtyard of Spinningfields’ The Oast House. Occupying two giant tents, the pop-up bar is decked out with fire pits, fur throws, and festive fairy lights.
Guests can warm up with mulled wine or cider inside the snug retreat and order comfort food such as cheese and ale fondue from The Oast House menu. Our tip would to get the Teepee’s festive take on the bar’s signature hanging kebabs, which comes stacked with turkey and pigs-in-blankets, and a hog roast dinner!
Location: The Oast House, The Avenue Courtyard, Spinningfields, Crown Square, M3 3AY.
Things to Do This Weekend in Norwich
Tunnel of Light
Until Friday 5th January. Free.
In 2016, thousands flooded to Norwich to experience the UK’s first Tunnel of Light when it was unveiled in the heart of the city centre. Well, it’s back for 2017! The 45-meters long, 4 meters high and 6 meters wide tunnel is made from 50,000 pulsating LEDs.
Located on Hay Hill, right next to the St. Peter Mancroft Church, the lights to the tunnel will be switched on every night between 5pm – 10pm for a spectacular display of mesmerising colours and patterns, inspired by the Northern Lights.
Location: Hay Hill, NR2 1QX.
