Things to Do This Weekend in London
Pop-Up Screens: Cinema in the Snow
Until Saturday 22nd December. Free.
There’s no better way to watch a Christmas film this year than at one of London’s many festive cinema pop-ups. And our favourite this year is taking place at the Hackney Showroom where Pop Up Screens are showing festive films in a snow-filled grotto that you reach by walking through a magic wardrobe.
You’ve only got until Friday to head down with films including The Muppet Christmas Carol, Love Actually, Elf and Home Alone. There’ll also be mulled wine and hot chocolate being served at each of the three daily screenings to get you into the mood.
Location: Hackney Showroom, Hackney Downs Studios, Amhurst Terrace, E8 2BT. Nearest Station: Rectory Road.
Up at The O2: Christmas Choirs
Friday 21st December – Sunday 23rd December. From £30.
A walk over the O2 is worth doing at the best of times. But this weekend, the Greenwich monument is also getting into the festive spirit with choirs belting out seasonal classics on the roof of the O2, 52m above the ground. Not only that, walkers will also get a free winter warming drink as you listen to the festive tunes.
Twelve different choirs will be supplying the tunes on different days, including Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir (both finalists in Gareth Malone’s BBC Two show ‘Sing While You Work’) and X Britain’s Got Talent performers ProVoc.
Location: The O2, Peninsula Square, SE10 0DX. Nearest Tube: North Greenwich.

Bingo Lingo: The Greatest Christmas Show
Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd December. £16.50.
One of Cardiff’s best venues, DEPOT, will once again be hosting the craziest night in town this weekend with the festive edition of Bingo Lingo! If you’re not familiar with the concept, Bingo Lingo isn’t like you’re a night with your Nan at Gala. It’s a little more debauched than that…
Expect dance-offs, twerking, joke prizes and the dreaded wheel of misfortune, alongside fire breathers, stilt walkers, acrobatics and even a strong man (or woman) challenge. Like all DEPOT events, as well as the bingo, there’ll be craft beer, cocktails, DJs, and some of Cardiff’s best street food vendors to boot.
Location: DEPOT, Construction House, Dumballs Road, CF10 5FE.
