UK ‘Disneyland’ Set To Open in 2021
It’s been announced that the UK is set to get its very own £2 billion Disneyland-style theme park and it could be open as early as 2021. Located in Kent, The London Paramount Entertainment Resort is being built by London Resort Company Holdings, and developers hope it will become one of the biggest theme parks on the planet.
Despite being called ‘The London Paramount Entertainment Resort’, the theme park is set to be built on a 388-acre landfill site in Kent, formerly known as Bamber Pit on the Swanscombe Peninsula between Gravesend and Dartford.
The site itself is nearly twice the size of the Olympic Park and it’s been estimated that the huge resort will attract around 50,000 tourists every day thanks to its planned indoor water park, theatres, restaurants, cinemas, live music venues and event spaces.
Being Paramount, many of the attractions and rides will be based on films produced by the company, including the likes of The Godfather, Mission: Impossible and the recent Star Trek movies. There’ll also be BBC Worldwide shows and Aardman Animations featured such as Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run.
It will be located near Ebbsfleet International station, on the Eurostar route between London and Paris, and the resort will create around 27,000 new jobs in the area. There’ll also be a total of 5,000 hotel rooms on site for tourists.
Work on the London Paramount Entertainment Resort is set to begin in 2018 with the park set to open as early as 2021 if all goes according to plan.
