What Your Girlfriend Really Wants for Christmas: Booze & Chocolate
Last updated on December 14th, 2017 at 01:58 pm
Christmas is almost upon us! But it’s fair to say that this time of year can be as stressful as it is enjoyable – especially if you struggle when it comes to buying your Jane gifts. So to save you a mad Christmas Eve dash around the High Street, we’ve once again enlisted the help of the lovely ladies at Average Janes to give us some top advice on what to get your girlfriend for Christmas.
We’ve got five guides coming out over the next couple of weeks to help you solve your Christmas present dilemmas. This time round, Average Janes gives us some top advice on Booze & Chocolate to treat your girlfriend with this Christmas.
Does your partner enjoy a tipple on Christmas Day? Or maybe she has a sweet tooth? Well, either way, booze or chocolate go down very well in our books as a perfect gift in a stocking, or as a welcome addition to the main present. But here’s the hard part: is she a prosecco sort of girl or a gin enthusiast? A Guylian fan? Or does she prefer something more exotic? Fear not – our handy guide has solutions for every taste!
I Heart Wines
If you want to keep things simple and focus on what is important – great tasting booze – I Heart Wines is a great place to start. Yes, we know what we like, but that doesn’t mean we know what we’re talking about! I Heart Wines keeps things easy by offering one version of each style of wine from around the world – we’re talking Prosecco, Rose, Asti… the lot. So all you need to worry about is knowing which is your Janes’ favourite! Head over to the I Heart Wines Website to find your nearest stockist.
Greenall’s Sloe Gin
Gin is always a great place to go at Christmas and we’ve always been partial to great sloe-style. Built on the same eight botanicals which create the Greenall’s Original recipe, Greenall’s Sloe Gin embodies the perfectly winter warming taste of its standard gin with a burst of berry fruit. Perfect for a casual drink in front of the fire! Available from Master of Malt for £17.45.
Smith & Sinclair Edible Cocktail Pastilles
For something a little different to get the festivities rolling, we absolutely love these Edible Cocktail Pastilles from Smith & Sinclair. Made with real booze, the pastilles come in a sensational combination of flavours, including Rum, Vodka, Whisky and Gin. The texture is somewhere between an American Hard Gum and a fruit jelly, and naturally they come with a subtle kick of alcohol to get your night going! Head over to the Smith & Sinclair Website where boxes of their Edible Cocktail Pastilles start at £15.99.
Freya Natural Spirit
For something really, really different, we recommend Freya. Distilled from the sap of the birch tree, Freya is an all-natural alcoholic spirit which has the cleanliness of a vodka, the natural green flavours of a tequila, and the woody notes of a young whisky. It’s a really interesting flavour and we found it works perfectly with a mixer, offering aromas of fresh peaches and a background of subtle vanilla. Freya birch spirit is available at The Whisky Exchange for £37.95.
Guylian Belgian Classics
If you’re going to get your girlfriend chocolates for Christmas, you may as well go all out and get the best. For us, that of course means Guylian! We also think she’d appreciate a big old box of the Belgian chocolatier’s best stuff. The Guylian Belgian Classics box features the iconic shells and truffles, among other chocolates, and is available over at the Guylian Website for £15.
Paxton Christmas Thins
Another great stocking filler, Paxton’s chocolate Christmas Thins come infused in indulgent festive flavours. Apple and Orange play the main part in the collection, with the subtle hints of clove, caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg coming through too. They’re available on the Paxton Chocolate Website for £15.
Doisy & Dam Ultimate Chocolate Christmas Hamper
If you ask us, one bar of chocolate is nowhere near enough at Christmas. We want a selection. And this Ultimate Chocolate Christmas Hamper from Doisy & Dam should do just the trick! Along with a selection of Doisy & Dom’s various flavoured chocolate bars – including Date & Himalayan Salt and Lemon, Poppy Seed & Baobab – the hamper also comes with a delish box of six scrumptious Salted Maple, Almond Nut Butter Cups plus, Maca, Vanilla Dark Choc Hot Chocolate – perfect for some winter warming! Available for £30 over at the Doisy & Dam Website.
Divine 70% Dark & Milk Luxury Chocolate Selection
We always think you should be buying fair trade products as much as possible. Which is why we love to support Divine, the only 100% Fairtrade chocolate company co-owned by cocoa farmers. Their Luxury Collection is delicious too, featuring the likes of raspberry in a rich dark ganache, hazelnut praline in a smooth milk chocolate, soft salted caramel in dark chocolate, and tangy passion fruit milk chocolate truffles. Available for £9.99 over at the Big Issue Shop.
Cutter & Squidge Chocolate Lover Set
But if your girlfriend loves her choc no matter what form it comes in, Cutter & Squidge’s Chocolate Lover Set is the perfect gift! It has a little bit of everything chocolatey from Cutter and Squidge’s Festive Collection, including a Chocolate Orange Mini Loaf Cake, a Chocolate Hazelnut Mini Loaf Cake, Chocolate Chip Dream Cookies, Triple Chocolate Dream Cookies, White Chocolate & Raspberry Luxury Fudge, Hazelnut & Chocolate Premium Gramuesli in a Jar, a Hot Chocolate Tin, and some tasty Brownie Bites. Head over to the Cutter & Squidge Website where the Chocolate Lover Set will set you back £35.
Booze & Chocolate
Bottled & Boxed Gift Set
But if you really can’t choose between the two, then Bottled & Boxed have you covered. They offer gifts which provide the best of both worlds with booze and chocolate coming in one perfectly formed set! We love this pink-themed gift selection which comes with a bottle of Bottega Rosé Gold sparkling rosé and a box of Charbonnel et Walker’s iconic Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles. Coming in a gorgeous keepsake box, the luxurious white chocolate truffles come with a hint of strawberry and a creamy milk chocolate marc de champagne centre, all rolled in a little powdered sugar for a touch of festive elegance. The pair are available from the Bottled & Boxed Website for £39.98.
